Directions to John's Carpet House
For the summer of 2007, the schedule will be every Sunday from 4pm til dark until the end of September. Here is a link to Google Maps and the address: 2133 Frederick St Detroit, MI 48211 The festival actually occurs in a field across the street from where John used to live, so this is actually the address of a field. If you can get to the Detroit Institute of Arts, then you will find it pretty easy to follow Warren to St Aubin to Frederick and the Carpet House.  If you have any questions, call Pete Barrow at (313) 948-5911

Join Big Time Pete and his friends for the  ongoing 2009 Jam!

This will be the forth year since Johns passing that Big Time Pete runs the "John's Carpet House jam" on the corner of Frederick and St. Aubin in Detroit. A lot of things have changed over the  last 4 years. The two houses nearby have burned down. But each year the crowd gets bigger, and bigger. Big Time Pete cuts more grass to free up more space for the impromptu festival. The music gets better. And if it' is  possible every year, everyone is even more friendlier.

We have big plans and big surprises in store for this year, including our world famous regulars:

Kenny Miller - guitar and vocalist
Harmonica Shah - harmonica and vocalist
Mr Bear & 2 Klean - band and vocalists
Sassy Wilson - vocalist
Cody Black - vocalist, D-Town, Capital Star
Cash McCall - vocalist
Ray the "Handy Man" - guitars
Willie Willie - keyboard, drums, guitar, and vocalist
LADY  T
Bring your guitar! Bring your drum set. It's a jam, everyone can play.

Once we start up  the 1st. week of May, every Sunday you can find down home blues from 3;00 pm until dark near the corner of Frederick and St. Aubin in Detroit. With pheasants running in the empty fields, old Detroit auto plants hulking in the distance, grills smoking, it is the perfect setting for a long running weekly outdoor blues festival that could only happen in Detroit. This jam will run from mid May through October.

You can be part of the party!
Would you like to help sponsor this event?  We need people to help cut the grass, donate a porta john, donate a portable stage, heck, we could even use some lights so that we don't have to shut down right at dark.  Got any time, money, expertise?  That's a lot of grass to keep cut each week.  Come and be part of the party!  Come and help these older gentleman pass the blues on to a younger generation in a healthy atmosphere of fresh air, sky, and green grass.  Call our big time organiser, Pete Barrow at (313) 995-8715, or leave a message in our forum.

These guys are part of the party ...
